Registered Education Savings Plans help you save for a child’s post secondary education. The child must be a Canadian resident and have a Social Insurance Number. The government will also contribute money to the plan for children under 17 years of age as a grant. These plans help you save money and are tax free. If the child chooses not to further their education, it is possible to transfer the money to another child in the family plan or get back your contributions, however, there may be a fee.
